Meet the team
For over a decade, Nodira has been exploring and experimenting with techniques for productivity, mindfulness, and the enjoyment of work. Throughout it all, she wished there were a place she could go where she knew she’d get her work done. Not just for productivity, but because when we focus and concentrate, we feel a deep enjoyment from our work. Her dream didn’t exist, so we created it. ✨
Prior to focused, Nodira co-founded data science startup Streamlit, and was the tech lead of the experimentation team at Twitter. She has a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Washington, and a Bachelors from the University of Auckland.
Alexis is a product designer and community builder who loves to create experiences that help people find joy, self-compassion, and connection with others.
Prior to co-founding focused, Alexis spent a decade at MIT, where she received her PhD at the MIT Media Lab. As a designer, she has built technologies across a variety of domains — ranging from cameras for deep-sea exploration, to creative learning software used by children around the world, artistic tools for zero-gravity environments in orbit, low-cost ultrasound machines to reduce maternal mortality, and much more.
Alexis is passionate about designing experiences that help people unlock their creativity and confidence.
Justin is a Software Engineer with a background in data science.
Prior to co-founding focused, Justin brings two decades of experience as a software engineer, working at several small companies in Louisiana before joining Microsoft. He then joined Twitter for nearly 10 years, working on Trends, and as a tech lead for the Performance Tools team that he started.
Justin loves thinking holistically about product design and engineering, and deeply values team and relationship building.
Tamara Dyer
Customer Success Manager
Tamara brings her extensive customer service and project management skills to focused, and is helping take care of scheduling needs and assisting our community more generally. She is passionate about creating meaningful relationships with people and helping them live their multi-dimensional lives with ease.
Kamilah Mathias
Host
Kamilah is one of our amazing hosts, leading morning Wake-Up Calls and Community Sessions every week. She loves supporting entrepreneurs, suggesting technology to supercharge your workday, and finding the best memes. Kamilah is passionate about building community, learning about our members’ wins and struggles, and finding ways to bring rest, joy, and play into the everyday.
Darya Soofi
Host
Darya appreciates the warm and inviting culture that makes the focused experience so special. She loves hearing stories from her callers about everything from day-to-day happenings to insightful life learnings.
Prior to focused, Darya spent 10 years working in environmental education and sustainability project management.
Suliel Sapp
Host
Suliel is one of our amazing hosts, leading morning Wake-Up Calls and Community Sessions every week. She also hosts our popular weekly planning sessions on Fridays with Kamilah! Suliel loves celebrating and empowering our members through genuine and fun interactions!
Anna Fagergren
Host
Anna is excited about helping people move forward on projects that matter to them. She loves collaborating with people to help them get their work done, while also taking care of themselves.
Previous to working at focused, Anna spent a decade as a data scientist and evaluator for nonprofits.
