Bailey Pilant is a LMHC and certified ADHD Clinical Therapist, specializing in the care of neurodivergent women, especially those diagnosed late in life. I founded The Wave Counseling to create a space that feels supportive, affirming, and validating for women navigating ADHD, autism, trauma, and perfectionism. As a therapist who is also AuDHD, I deeply understand how these identities shape our relationships, emotions, and day-to-day lives. My approach blends compassion with practicality, helping clients build systems that honor their brains while developing radical self acceptance and compassion for our unique experience.

What do you recommend to help clients focus on their work?

Many of my clients with ADHD struggle with task initiation, especially when the task feels overwhelming, unstructured, or boring. One strategy I often recommend is creating “activation rituals," small, predictable steps that help signal to the brain that it’s time to begin. These rituals can include putting on noise-canceling headphones, lighting a candle, or using a body double to co-work virtually.

How would you describe your unique style of working with clients?

My style is warm, affirming, and collaborative. I take a trauma-informed, neurodivergent-affirming approach and integrate modalities like IFS, ACT, and somatic mindfulness to help clients connect with themselves in more compassionate and sustainable ways. I don’t believe in “fixing” people, I help them understand and care for their unique brains.

Client Expertise

Adult Women, LGBTQ+

My approach is trauma informed and neurodivergent-affirming. I draw from Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and somatic mindfulness-based practices to help clients reconnect with themselves and build more compassionate inner dialogue. I support clients in understanding the "why" behind their patterns while offering tools to regulate the nervous system and move through stuck points, especially when working through trauma, perfectionism, or burnout. Above all, my focus is on creating a validating and collaborative space where clients can unmask, process deeply, and build lives that work with their brains
