Music recommendations for your workday

This week, we’re sharing some of our team’s favorite music recommendations for the background of your workday!

Ethiopian Jazz
Ethiopian jazz, or Ethio-jazz, is a unique musical style that blends traditional Ethiopian pentatonic melodies with western jazz harmony, Latin rhythms, and funk.
It’s awesome, giving a cheerful but relaxed vibe that will most likely put a smile on your face.
To get into the genre, we recommend any album from the Éthiopiques album series, which are compilations showcasing many top artists.
Give it a spin
Éthiopiques Volume 4 on Spotify

Symbol
Our next recommendation is the album Symbol, by Japanese electronica artist Susumu Yokota.
It’s pretty activating and imaginative, so we recommend pairing it with creative work, or even taking a walk in nature and feeling like you’re in a beautiful movie.
Give it a spin

DJ Set in a Japanese Teahouse
Our next’s recommendation is… a DJ set in a Japanese teahouse! We found this mix while browsing YouTube.
It’s very activating and upbeat — recommended for running around doing chores, finishing something before a deadline, or just getting an afternoon boost when you need it most.
Give it a spin

Modular Synth
Our next recommendation is calm, generative ambient music created by a “modular synth.”
Modular synthesizers are electronic musical instruments composed of separate synthesizer modules that represent different functions.
Think: slow, evolving textures drifting from one piece into the next. Put it on, let it run, and get lost in the work.
Give it a spin

Cozy Witch’s Cottage
Our last recommendation is… cozy, magical Autumn background music perfect for the fall season. It’s almost Halloween, after all.
This mix will help you escape to a cozy witch’s cottage. Perfect for reading, drawing, writing, or relaxing.
Give it a spin

Hope you enjoy these music reccs!
P.S. If you aren't a member of Focused Space, but could use help accomplishing your goals, busting through procrastination, or getting motivated… you are welcome to join us at one of our live guided work sessions, or morning planning sessions!
